A 20-year-old girl from Uttar Pradesh becomes the latest victim of an acid attack and the culprit, in this case, is none other than her own father. Khushboo Devi had to pay the price of warning her father to stop the trade of marrying young women and later selling them off just for money.

The incident took place when Khushboo who was sleeping alongside her daughter and husband heard the knocking at the door. As she opened it, her father Manik Chandra who was standing on the other side threw acid on her which damaged her face and other body parts.

Not only Khushboo but the liquid was also splashed on her husband Vinod Kumar and daughter Trisha. All three of them were taken to the hospital by the neighbours. With 6 per cent burns, it was Khushboo who suffered the most.

The responsibility to manage the household fell on her shoulders after her mother left the house after being as Khushboo’s father use to beat her up. Khushboo said that she and all her four siblings have seen their father bringing younger women to their house and marrying them without divorcing her mother and later selling them. She claimed that her father sold these girls for Rs 60, 000 to places like New Delhi, Agra and Aligarh.

After the shocking incident, Khushboo has taken a vow to send his father behind the bars for crime against women. In the past too she and her mother reported to police about him but every time he got away by bribing local police officials.
