UP: Found with a girl of other religion, Anti-Romeo squad shaves head of Muslim man

The three constables who have been suspended are from the Azizganj police post in Shahjahanpur

Three police constables were suspended for forcibly shaving the head of a man, who was found sitting with a female friend  in a public park in UP’s Shahjahanpur . The incident reportedly took place on March 22, it came to light after its video went viral.

As per a report published in Times of India, the couple was from different religions,  22-year-old Mohammed Qasim was stopped by the squad when he was sitting with a girl. On further questioning, officials said, she told them that she did not know the youth well, and instead requested the squad to be allowed to go home.

Later the girl was allowed to leave but the boy’s head was shaved by the squad.

SSP of Shahjahanpur, K B Singh said, “The three constables who have been found guilty in the incident are, Suhail Ahmed, Laiek Ahmed and Sonu Pal. From the video available it seems that all three of them were present there but did not stop those who were shaving the head of the victim. I have ordered their suspension on this ground.”

The three constables who have been suspended are from the Azizganj police post in Shahjahanpur. However, no compliant has been registered by the boy after the incident.

A C Srivastava, Circle officer (city), told TOI, “The incident happened on March 22 and the policemen involved in shaving the head of the boy have been identified and action has been taken against them. So far, no complaint has been filed by anyone against the policemen.
