Rape accused Gayatri Prajapati demands narco test, says truth will come out only then

Police had issued a non-bailable warrant against Prajapati, and six others for allegedly gang-raping a woman and alleged attempt to rape her minor daughter

Former Uttar Pradesh Minister and Samajwadi Party leader Gayatri Prajapati has been sent to 14 days judicial custody. He was arrested from Lucknow on Wednesday following a seventeen day run from police. According to the Uttar Pradesh Police, the minister was constantly changing his position while on the run.

While being taken to custody, Prajapati said “Hum keh rahe hain iss ghatna ka narco test ho, narco test se doodh ka doodh or paani ka paani ho jaega. (I demand a narco test of the whole incident, the whole truth will come out only then.)”

During preliminary questioning, Prajapati told the police that he had been on the run since February 27 and spent his time in West Bengal and some southern states.

Following the supreme court order , Police had issued a non-bailable warrant against Prajapati, and six others for allegedly gang-raping a woman and alleged attempt to rape her minor daughter.

“Gayatri Prajapati  was arrested in Lucknow. He was constantly moving from one place to another all this while. This made the job of police more challenging.” DGP Javeed Ahmed said in a statement.

He also clarified that there was no political pressure on the police to allow the minister go scot free. On Tuesday, three accomplices named in FIR – Rupesh, Amrinder and Vikas – were arrested in the same case.

“All 7 accused have been arrested and the matter will be forwarded to the Court for final decision,” ADG,Law&Order Daljeet Chaudhary told reporters in Lucknow.
