Bilal Mohiuddin Bhat, 31-year-old from Kashmir, made his state proud after he secured the 10th position in the civil services examination whose result was declared on May 31 night. Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) announced its result on its website upsc.gov.in on Wednesday night. Bilal Mohiuddin Bhat hails from a remote border district of Handwara in Kashmir. After completing his school and college from Srinagar, he studied Veterinary Sciences in Jammu. In 2012, he cleared the Kashmir Administrative Services (KAS) and later the Indian Forest Services (IFS) and since 2010 he has been trying to clear IAS exam.
Bhat is currently appointed in Lucknow as an Indian Forest Officer. On achieving this feat he said, “Words can hardly describe my feelings. I feel on top of the world today. I believed in this quote — Try, try, try again. I have been trying from 2010. I have had to sacrifice every comfort to achieve my goal”.
After the result came out, former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah congratulated Bhat. He on Twitter wrote, “Congratulations to all who passed the UPSC Exam esp Bilal Mohiuddin Bhat, a resident of Srinagar for securing 10th position. Well done”
Union Minister Jitendra Singh also took to Twitter, he wrote, “While last year Jammu and Kashmir candidate stood second, this year a J&K candidate has secured 10th position in Civil Services Examination.
Another candidate from J&K, Suhail Qasim Mir, a resident of Bijbehara has secured 125th rank in the UPSC exam. After studying at a school in Bijbehara, he completed his or graduation from Government Degree College Bemina, Srinagar.
This year, the UPSC exam is topped by Karnataka’s Nandini KR, an Indian Revenue Service officer who is currently undergoing training at the National Academy of Customs, Excise and Narcotics located in Faridabad. She completed her BE (Civil Engg) from M.S.Ramaiah Institute of Technology in Bangalore.
