Uri attack: Afghan president calls up PM Modi, condoles terror strike

In his conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Afghanistan president Ashraf Ghani condemned the terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir's Uri town on September 18, which left 18 soldiers dead.

Afghanistan president Ashraf Ghani on Tuesday spoke to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to condole the terror attacks in Uri.

According to ANI, Ghani strongly condemned the attacks which left 18 Army jawans dead.

The PM thanked the Afghan president for his support.

During his recent visit to India few days ago, Ghani vent out his ire against Pakistan, stating that the neighbouring state’s policy of differentiating between ‘good terrorists’ and ‘bad terrorists’ was not justified.

“Terrorism will bite probably like a snake. States need to have a common perspective,” the ANI quoted him speak to World Press.

German foreign minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier too condemned the attacks.

“Our thoughts are with families of the murdered soldiers and many who have been injured,” he said.

“Germany stands resolutely at India’s side in fight against terrorism, and shares the view that every country is responsible for taking decisive action against terrorism emanating from its territory,” he added further.
