Just a month after the announcement of demonetiation by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley addressed the media and announced a number of incentives while promoting PM Modi’s idea of a digital and cashless economy:
Here are the key announcements made by the Finance Minister:
-Insurance cover worth Rs 10 lakhs will be given to those who book railway tickets through digital mode.
-5% discount on digital payment mode for railway facilities like catering, retiring rooms.
-People buying monthly seasonal tickets in the Suburban railway networks through digital payments mode will be given 0.5% discount. This will be effective from January 1st, 2017 starting from Mumbai Suburban railways.
-NABARD will give RUPAY card to people who have Kisan Credit Card.
-Petrol/Diesel prices will be cheaper for those who pay by digital mode. They will be given 0.75% discount.
-10% discount will be given on RFID and FASTag procured through digital payment at toll plazas across all national highways.
-2 POS machines will be provided to villages with 10,000 populations. 1 Lakhs villages to be selected.
