In a first-of-its-kind initiative, archival records related to the history of the Capital are soon going to be a click away.
Nearly four crore rare documents and manuscripts on Delhi’s history are being digitised for free public access by the Delhi government.The department of archives is planning to release the first series of 50 lakh digitised documents in April next year.
Treasured possessions like the trail of the last Mughal emperor Bahadur Shah Zafar, letters of 1857 mutiny and decrees of Mughal rulers have been preserved as well. With a budget of Rs 25.40 crore, officials at the department say the digitisation process is to make rare information and documents available to public free of cost.
