While the talks of high-speed Bullet trains are underway another high-speed mode of travel system seem to be getting the shape in India. Los Angeles-based company Hyperloop One has announced a proposal to construct five lines in India that will move people at airline speed at cheap prices. The Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu has expressed interest on it.
If the proposal comes to reality Bengaluru may have India’s first Hyperloop. People will reach Chennai from Bengaluru in 20 minutes at airline speed.
Hyperloop One announced the project through a global challenge and is urging people to vote for the first line to be built in India. The five proposed lines include Bengaluru to Chennai, Mumbai to Chennai via Bengaluru, Bengaluru to Thiruvananthapuram, Mumbai to Delhi and Mumbai to Kolkata.
On March 4, Suresh Prabhu said that it is a futuristic idea and hinted that it would be a good project if people voted for it.
The Railway Minister said, discussions by the railway ministry with top six global companies as underway for the launch of very high-speed trains in India, that can travel at a speed of 600kms per hour.
According to the company, Hyperloop is a new way to move people and things at airline speeds for the price of a bus ticket. It’s on-demand, energy-efficient and safe.
