The Tripura Assembly experienced an absolutely strange episode on Monday after Trinamool congress MLA ran away with the speaker’s mace during the parliament proceeding.
The incident took place when some of the TMC MLA lawmakers went near the speaker’s podium and started raising slogans against Forest Minister Naresh Jamatiya. The house was holding a discussion about matters concerning women when TMC MLA Sudip Roy Barman leaped ahead picked up the mace and ran away with it.
“During the Zero Hour, Barman raised the issue of womanising without informing anyone and when the oppositions raised slogans, Barman suddenly fled away with the mace. He should not have done it,” the speaker told the media.
Following which, the speaker had to adjourn the house. The watch and ward boy staff later brought back the mace to the speaker.

The speaker lashed out at Barman for his act and said that he should not have fled away with the mace. However, Barman defended himself saying that “he had lost his cool” and snatched the mace in protest. He further said that he had to take that step as he was not being allowed to prove his point and that he wanted to highlight that the crime against the women has increased rapidly in the recent years.
