The much-awaited Goods and Services Tax (GST) is all set to be implemented from July 1. However, looks like a minister from the Yogi Adityanath’s Uttar Pradesh government does not even know the full form GST. Social Welfare, Scheduled Castes, and Tribal Affairs Minister Rampati Shastri failed to spell out the full form of GST after he asked to do so by the media.
Just 2 days before the GST is set to be launched the minister failed to say the full form of the new tax regime even when he was at the event interacting with the local businessmen trying to explain the benefits of the new tax system.
In a video that has been released by news agency ANI, you can see the minister struggling to recall the full form of GST while the media persons wait for him to answer, “The full form of GST is..,” he said. Someone in the background also apparently tried to help him by prompting the answer but he didn’t seem to get that.

According to a report in PTI, he tried to cover up the slip up by asserting that he did know the full form but wasn’t being able to recollect it at that particular moment. “I know the full form. I am going through all the relevant documents to gather more knowledge about the GST,” Shastri said.
