People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India on January 23 hit back at actor Kamal Haasan dare to ban bull riding rodeos in the United States saying that they were an Indian entity and only help animals in India.
Kamal Haasan who been extremely vocal about his views on the controversial bull-taming sport, Jallikattu lashed out at PETA asking them “go ban Rodeos” in Donald Trump-led United States. “PETA go ban bull riding rodeos in Mr.Trump’s U.S. You’re not qualified to tackle our bulls. Empires have been made to quit India,” he said in a tweet.
In a statement, PETA India CEO, Poorva Joshipura said, “The rodeo is further prohibited in the United Kingdom, The Netherlands, and elsewhere. Spanish supporters of another organisation, PETA Europe, have made bull fights in many areas of Spain illegal.”
She further added that PETA US are making constant efforts to protect animal rights in the United States since 1980.
Actor Kamal Haasan on January 24 addressed a press conference in Chennai city of Tamil Nadu in the wake of the ongoing protests to lift ban on the controversial bull-taming sport, Jallikattu. While speaking to the media, Kamal Haasan said that he was shocked to see the cops behaving the did during protests and that the people of the state should be given a sound response for them to calm down.
Supporting the people demanding to legalise the sport, Kamal Hassan said that he has been demanding for 20 years and the law to ban it only showed double standards. He further added that the government should not ban anything but take steps to regulate it.
The protest which was being carried out peacefully till last week took a violent turn as the angry protesters set the Ice House Police Station to fire, near the Marina Beach. The TN police detained over 100 students who were protesting near Meenakshi Hall in Coimbatore.
