Well, if you are not 36-24-36 then ladies you don’t have ‘perfect figure’. Yes. This is what a CBSE physical education textbook is teaching its students. It does not stop here, the book also tells that the 36-24-36 shape of females is considered best and that is why in beauty pageants such size is taken into consideration.
The ‘knowledge’ provided in the book came to light when one Anuj Khurana put up a screen shot of the book on social media.
The book also ‘suggests’ that “regular exercise can make a body beautiful, as can be seen in the Miss World and Miss Universe contests”, also the ‘perfect figure’ “does not come up by chance”.

The book also ‘enlightens’ the students by saying, “The vertebrae in females is usually long but in it comparison upper and lower limbs (hands and legs) are smaller, whereas, the vertebra, hands and legs of males are longer in comparison to females. The bones of hips of females are wider. Knees are slightly apart. Due to this shape females are not able to run properly”.
The title of the book is ‘Health and Physical Education Textbook’. The book on physical education is published by New Saraswati House and is in the syllabus of students of class 12th of CBSE, however it has not been brought out by the NCERT.
This is not the first time that CBSE textbook is receiving flak for its content, earlier a chapter in textbook showed a woman with dark complexion as ugly and termed fair woman as beautiful.
