In a bad news for party lovers in Goa, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has put a ban on parties after 10 pm. The order has come days after the Minister for Water Resources in CM’s cabinet Vinod Palyekar has said that late night parties on the beaches should be banned.
“There is a legal ban on holding parties after 10 PM and this has been upheld by the state government. There is no controversy about it”, said Parrikar.
CM said that police has been instructed to crack the whip on late night parties, prostitution and illegal gambling activities in the state.
Palyekar had said the police is not working properly in this regard, ” Our coast is infested with the sale and trafficking of drugs. There is absolutely no control over it. This should be stopped as early as possible. First of all, we need to put a ban on the rave parties and all night parties which are happening here,” said Palyekar.
Vinod Palyekar, who represent Siolim constituency in North Goa, has earlier said that late night party do not represent our culture and these parties should not be encouraged and immediate ban should be imposed on them.
BJP formed the government in the state after the party won the trust vote in the Goa assembly on March 16. In the floor test there 16 MLAs were against the move, as many as 22 MLAs supported, however, one MLA was absent. The floor test was conducted on Supreme Court’s directive.
Parrikar resigned from the post of Defence Minister and took charge as the CM of Goa for the fourth time on March 14.
