A recent statement by BJP MLA Pannalal Shakya, where he said that girls shouldn’t have boyfriends to be safe, had sparked a huge uproar. In the statement, which he made at the Guna Government College, Shakya had said, “Why do girls have boyfriends? If they stop doing this, the atrocities against them will stop.” He went on to ask boys to avoid the “western culture of making girlfriends”.
Clearly, Shakya has is making a lot of sense, because honestly, why should girls have boyfriends? Haven’t boyfriends sort of become irrelevant in our nation today?
