Mumbai continues to hold the coveted title of India’s richest city with an estimated wealth of around $820 billion ( nearly Rs 55 lakh crore). The city is also home to 46000 millionaires and 28 billionaires. According to the detailed dossier released by the new world wealth report that outlines the growth of India cities, Delhi comes at a distant second with wealth around $450 billion ( Rs 30 lakh crore). As many as 23000 millionaires and 18 billionaires live in the national capital.
The survey also reveals that Kolkata has more millionaires than Bangalore, Hyderabad, Pune, Chennai or Gurgaon.While city of joy boasts of 9600 millionaires, Hyderabad has 9000 such high net worth individuals, Bengaluru 7700, Pune 4500, Gurgaon 4000 and Chennai 6600 millionaires.
However, Bengaluru has 8 billionaires, while Kolkata and Chennai has four such individuals. Hyderabad and Pune have six and five billionaires respectively. Gurgaon has only two such high netw worth individuals.
The report also says that Surat leads the pack as the fastest growing city followed by Ahmedabad. Home to 264,000 millionaires and 95 billionaires in total, India’s total wealth has been estimated at $6.2 trillion (as of December 2016).
India now the sixth richest country in the world worth $6200 billion – much richer that European giants like France and Italy and also Australia and Canada.
