Just a week after a number of women faced molestation on New Year’s eve in Bengaluru, another report of a burqa-clad woman being sexually assaulted has emerged. A 25-year-old burqa-clad woman was sexually assaulted this week in KG Haali area of Bengaluru.
According to reports, the incident took place while she was on her way to work at around 6 in the morning. The man who sexually assaulted her reportedly stalked and grabbed her before throwing her down on the ground. The nearby residents rushed to help her after she screamed for help.
The unidentified man reportedly mouthed “don’t shout” in her ears. The accused fled from the spot after he saw people walking towards the woman. The woman was rushed to the nearby hospital where she was treated. The woman suffered injuries on hands, feet and tongue.
No arrests have been made as yet, However, the police are making efforts to nab the accused.
The incident comes into light days after a shocking and a harrowing CCTV footage released where two motorcycle-borne men are seen molesting a woman on a street in Bengaluru while the woman tries to make desperate attempts to get away from his clutches.
After the incident was reported, Samajwadi Party leader Abu Azmi asserted and blamed women who were allegedly harassed on New Year’s eve saying that they have been strayed away from the ‘Indian culture.’ “In this modern era, the more women wear short clothes, the more fashionable, modern and educated they are considered,” he said.
On December 31, thousand of revelers gathered in the busy areas of MG Road and Brigade Road in Bangalore where several men groped and verbally abused women revelers even as 1500 policemen were present in the area to provide “security”.Reports also mentioned that some women had to take off their heels and run from the spot because the police were majorly mute spectators and barely intervened.
