New Deputy Chief Minister of JUttar Pradesh, Dinesh Sharma who is also the minister of Secondary education recently asserted that the government will soon include Yoga in school sksyllabus and that the state government was also planning to set up a separate Sanskrit education board.
While speaking at a seminar on “Yoga as a medicine” organised by Patanjali Yog Peeth at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan in Lucknow, Dinesh Sharma affirmed that they were soon going to set up a committee that will set up the Sanskrit education board in a big to promote language schools.
He further stated that after the Yoga has been included in the curriculum, the subject will be divided in two parts one being Yoga and other one being physical education. Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his 30th edition of Mann ki Baat address had urged the people to suggest ways to motivate people to participate in Yoga. PM Narendra Modi asked people to suggest ways to urge people to practice Yoga how to make the 3rd International Day of Yoga memorable.
“Tell us how to draw more people towards practising Yoga and how to make the 3rd International Day of Yoga memorable,” PM Modi said.
“The state has a Sanskrit Parishad but it is more or less defunct and is being run by only a handful of officials. Sanskrit scholars, intellectuals, professors and writers will be appointed to the Board. It is not good to see Sanskrit teachers in a pathetic condition,” Hindustan Times quoted Dinesh Sharma as saying.
Recently, Ramdev baba had raised the issue of the “pathetic” conditions that teachers teaching Sanskrit are in while pointing out they also get really low salaries. He had also expressed delight over Yogi Adityanath being the new Chief minister of Uttar Pradesh while adding that he would give importance to Yoga as he had Yoga background.
