There are two kinds of writers – one who writes for the masses and the other who writes for the sake of storytelling. This article is about the first kind. Apparently, the writers of Indian pop fiction prefer to see the world not through their eyes or from the notion of actual females, but from the perspective of the male reproductive organ. The female characters in most of their novels turn out to be superficially sexy, uncertain about themselves, think of themselves as being secondary to men and apparently have as much grey matter as does an ostrich.
They glorify the typical male mentality that we repeatedly see in the masala movies. In fact, their novels are less bookish and more so resemble a typical Bollywood script, where the woman is seen through the male gaze, seems to be quite happy at being objectified and ticks off every cliche of womanhood possible.
Here are such excerpts and dialogues from the books of 4 authors that not only reduces women to their biology and depict them as airheads but are absolutely cringe-worthy!
