Meet runway model Nitin Singh who at 47 years old is breaking stereotypes about the fashion industry. An ex-army officer, Mehta served in the Indian Army for 21 years before taking voluntary retirement and entering the modelling industry in 2017.
He told TOI,
“People thought I was a designer or a stylist. Nobody imagined that I was a model about to walk for Rajesh Pratap Singh at the Amazon India Fashion Week.”
He added,
“Young people walk up to me and say that I am their role model. It gives me a kick.”
A fitness enthusiast, Mehta is currently the face of Reid & Taylor, has done commercials for Tanishq and PVR and has also landed roles in Tamil films. He told HT,
“My salt-pepper look is a hit. Ever since I stopped colouring my grey beard, I started getting a lot of fashion work,”
