Fads come and go and every generation has extremely different style statements. While thin eyebrows were the norm 10 years ago, it’s all about thick brows now! When it comes to cinema, they way actors dress is the first thing people see. While we notice everybody’s style statements- the villain, the hero, the actress, the supporting cast- there is one character whose style has been largely ignored by all of us- the GHOSTS!
Yes, when it comes to Bollywood, ghosts have come a long way. From being basic and simple chudails to what they look like now, their style evolution is noteworthy! It’s about time we gave them a shout out for not letting us sleep at night, right? Let’s take a look at the evolution of filmy ghosts over the decades:

80s-90s
Then came the white saree and white hair era, where all the bhootnis would hide their faces with pallus cuz sanskaars.
RGV’s Raat broke the traditional saree and white hair mold in 1992 and the protagonist ghost was pretty realistic and it is date one of the scariest Bollywood movies ever made!
Early 2000s
In the early 2000s, the prosthetics makeup came into play and almost every ghost looked like they’re straight outta The Exorcist movie.
Around 2010 prosthetics and makeup toned down and the ghosts became way more aesthetic. I mean, look at that perfect hair and those perfect brows!
Current trends
Bipasha Basu reigned in this era with her oh-so-scary horror movies!
And now the ghosts are legit doing item numbers à la Urvashi Rautel in Great Grand Masti!
