Melanie Gaydos, a 28-year-old model, makes us believe that beauty is not about having great features or a beautiful face. This woman is suffering from a rare disease but made sure to put her best foot forward to conquer the fashion industry. She is on spree to break all the myths we believe fashion industry is made of. Melanie is a transformation that the fashion industry needs to see. And well, she is doing it really well.

What is it about

Suffering from a genetic disorder called ectodermal dysplasia, Melanie’s dreams are bigger than all her sufferings. Due to the condition her teeth, nails, pores, and bones have form abnormally and she is also suffering from alopecia which is partially blind due to eyelash growth.

How it all started?

Melanie is an art graduate based in New York City and has shot for several photographers. It all started during her college days after she responded to an online advert. So, the advert was looking for ‘unique people’ for fashion photographers to shoot.

The sufferings

Melanie has suffered a lot in her life. In one of her interviews, she expressed it saying that she was treated as an ill or contagious person. At the age of 26, she underwent three dental implants and got dentures for the first time after appearing on the reality TV show — The Doctors. However, they last for eight months as she took them out.
