Mules to Ankle Straps: 11 types of heels every girl should know about

If you want to know which type of heels will suit what all outfits and when to wear them, here's a quick guide

Marilyn Monroe once said, ”Give a girl the right shoes, and she can conquer the world”.

Believe it or not, but most of us have a shoe fetish and why not? After all, your footwear is a reflection of your personality. From home-grown labels to international brands, shoe trends have also come a long way. While Lady Gaga’s futuristic footwear are still winning the style game, brands all around the world are busy reinventing heel types and height. And if it is getting difficult for you understand which type of heels will suit what outfits and when to wear them, here’s a quick guide:

1) Wedges
While the height of the heel may vary from design to design, the one thing remains the same — there is no separation between the sole and heel. And that is what makes it more comfortable to wear and walk in.

2) Platforms
There are chances that you might confuse wedges with platforms as both the heels look similar at times. While the height, length and width of the heel may vary in platforms, the sole of the shoe is always wide and thick at the front, which helps shift the body weight and makes it more balance.

3) Comma Heels
These are called comma heels because the curve makes them look like the punctuation mark. While the tail can be shaped outward or inward, these low heels look really cool and are not at all risky to walk with.

4) Mules
While the height and width of the heel may vary, the mules come with a half-open or half-closed top. These are not only comfortable but are also the most worn this season.

5) Ankle Strap Heels
Again, the type of heel may vary but what makes them a great buy is the strap around the ankle which makes the heel more secure and comfortable to walk in.

6) Kitten Heels
If flats don’t attract you and high heels are not what you love, then kitten heels are your saviour. These are not only comfortable but also look super stylish with anything you wear.

7)  Stilettos
These are the tallest among all the heels and can go up to 8 inches. As wearing them for long could give you severe foot-ache, the heels are not every girl’s cup of tea.

10) Chunky Heels
These are the best alternative to stilettos. Chunky heels have a wider base (most of them are square) which makes wearing the footwear extremely comfortable, stable and pain-free.

11) Cork Heels
These are called cork heels because they are made of the same material as that of the wine bottle cork. While the shape and size of the heel may vary according to the design, these are super comfortable and provide a soft cushion-like support.
