The recently-held Dada Saheb Phalke Excellence Awards was graced with the presence of the who’s who of Bollywood. While most of them chose to go for a traditional avatar, one thing they had in common was their love for the 6-yards of grace. But what made us go wow was that each look was a perfect mix of indo-western and we just can’t take our eyes off these stunning fusion fashion avatars.
Love for monochromes
Shilpa Shetty wore a white asymmetrical kurta along with black semi-sheer tights and a classy Nehru jacket, all from designers Shantanu and Nikhil’s Tribe collection. She completed the look with a high-bun and went for a statement silver jewellery to compliment her ensemble and totally nailed the boho chic look.
Becuase tassels never go out of fashion
This cherry red Eden tailored sari of Kriti Sanon is definitely wardrobe goals. Designed by Shivan & Narresh, the saree has beautiful lush blooms print and also features black tassel pleats that give it a royal look. With her hair tied neatly in a ponytail, Kriti completed her look with a bright red lipstick and earrings.
Traditional with a twist
Aditi Rao Hydari’s heavily embellished off-shoulder kurta is absolutely stunning. Pairing it along with a flared black skirt by designer duo Varun and Nidhika, the off-shoulder element made this ethnic number quite stylish as Aditi paired it with just a pair of desi jhumkas.
Neither a pant nor a saree
Tamannaah Bhatia opted for a classy pant-saree, designed by Anamika Khanna. The beautiful and bright pink belt detailing is what added drama to the whole look. The actress paired the attire with a beautiful choker necklace from Tribe by Amrapali and we are totally in love with the look.
Ruffles + saree = Deadly combination
Plain is not always boring and Jennifer Winget proved the same by wearing this powder blue saree with a ruffled blouse, adding a touch of drama to the ensemble. Designed by Aishwarya Tyagi, this saree is love at first sight and the way Jennifer carried it with utmost perfection and elegance is just beautiful.
Whether it is Tamannaah’s pant saree or the tassel and ruffles detailing on Kriti and Jennifer’s outfits, this season is all about mixing the various indo-western trends and creating your own unique fashionable fusion.
