Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli, who tied the knot in a secret yet royal ceremony in Italy, hosted their (first) wedding reception in Delhi on December 21. The lavish party was attended by many bigwigs, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Social media is flooded with pictures and videos from Anushka-Virat’s grand reception, and it won’t be wrong to say that the couple looked nothing short of royal.
Just like their wedding trousseau, the newly-weds once again chose to go with ace designer Sabyasachi’s outfits and made all heads turns with their traditional avatar.

Virat opted for a black bandhgala with buttons in 18K gold and a white silk kurta along with a hand-woven brocade churidaar. He completed his look with mojris and a hand-embroidered Pashmina shawl, all from Sabyasachi’s collection.

Coming to Anushka Sharma’s look, the actress looked absolutely stunning in a red Benarasi saree, which she complemented with a heavy uncut diamond choker and jhumkas from the designer’s bridal jewelry collection.
It is very rare that we get to see an actress in a simple ethnic saree, ditching those princess-looking gowns at their wedding function. And seeing Anushka breaking the norm, Sabyasachi took to his social media and wrote:
Bollywood can play a major role in spreading awareness about Indian textiles and handlooms. And I must say the occasion couldn’t be better. I know copies of this saree will flood the entire country in the next few months to come, which also means that a million weaver’s children will be back at school. All I can say is thank you Anushka!
While her Benarasi saree was love at first sight, it was her red bindi and sindoor that stole the limelight. Oh, and not to forget the mogras in her hair!
