After thrashing Pakistan by 124 runs on June 4, Virat Kohli and company and the entire nation is beaming with joy. After a disappointing campaign in the IPL, Virat Kohli is back with a bang and the cricketer scored 81 runs against Pakistan. It won’t be wrong to say that he is one of the fittest players of the Indian cricket team and takes his health very seriously now. Yes, we are serious about NOW! Like other people, even Virat realised the importance of fitness late in life.
Virat started taking his fitness seriously after his ordinary performance in IPL 2012. Soon, he realised if he sticks to the same routine, he will not be able to survive for long. And so he changed his training regime and eating habits. He made sure to stick to a set pattern of training and improved his way of eating. He believed in ‘being fitter made him mentally stronger’. While talking to a media agency, he admitted that it was tough to follow the strict regime initially.
Virat revealed that his training was horrible. He used to eat bad, was a night owl and used to have a drink or two regularly. He was in a horrible mindset. The sudden change came when one day, he looked in mirror post taking shower and said, “you can’t look like this if you want to be a professional cricketer.”
This was the time when Virat Kohli was 12kgs heavier than he is now and well, was quite chubby too. But things changed for better.
So, for a person who loves to eat, it is not easy to control diet. He restricted himself from gluten, wheat, cold drinks, desserts. We are sure, it would be tough. Things continued for two months, and he was craving much. But seeing the results, cravings were dead (If we may say that).
In 2015, he decided to change his training and started lifting, snatching, cleaning and deadlifting. The result was commendable. He once spoke to PTI and said, how he felt about the power in his legs. Further added, “training is addictive.”
Virat Kohli, currently, follows a very simple workout routine — Weight Lifting and Lower Body Exercises. He does around 100 squats in every session. Yes, you heard that right. Virat Kohli doesn’t like to experiment much with his workout regime and believes that to be consistent. He believes that one has to be boring with food and training for proper fitness.
We know what he doesn’t eat, but here we tell you what Virat eats. And when it comes to his eating habits and diet, Virat Kohli doesn’t believe in depriving himself. But prefers eating only freshly cooked meals and stays away from junk food. Not only this, he makes sure to drink packaged mineral water because it is safe and also to keep himself away from water-borne diseases.
Following a simple mantra — Eat.Sleep.Train.Repeat, Virat Kohli’s fitness journey is not that easy. It’s neither boring nor regular, his fitness regime includes everything that a regular person thinks and do. Virat not only promotes fitness but also posts many inspiring videos and pictures of himself, so that people get motivated to start working out to stay healthy. Watch the video above the post and do tell us, if you follow these or not.
