Campus life is rigorous and hectic yet one thing that binds student together are the well-known canteens, food joints, eateries, and dhabas. They not only serve some of the best mouth-watering dishes but also become a good meeting place for people who can exchange information, discuss and debate about what not. Students bond with each other over a cup of chai and a veg/non-veg roll. This time, we decided to talk about the five places in and around Jawahar Lal Nehru University aka JNU wherein you can always treat your taste buds with yummy delicacies.
We have come up with a list of food joints which are well under your budget and would definitely not burn a hole in your pocket.
24×7 Food Court
The best part about 24×7 Food court is its timing. The food court is open all day all night long. So, if you are feeling hungry late at night, you know where to hit. The place is not expensive. Chicken Afghani is the specialty and one should definitely try it out.
Ganga Dhaba
Founded in 1985, the Dhaba is open till 2-3 AM. If you feel hungry late at night, you can relish delicious Aaloon Paratha for a very low cost. A cup of chai with the paratha is definitely the ideal combo.
JNU Library Canteen
The Library canteen started in 1987 is owned by K.P Gopalan. Though the canteen is open only in the library hours but yes, this is the only place where you will find tasty south Indian dishes.
Mughal Darbar
The name in itself suggests that the place caters to the Mughlai food. The Darbar opens only at dinner time as well as lunch time. Most of the time it is crowded and people can fill their tummy under the budget of 200 Rs.
Shambhu Da’s Canteen
Another place where you can relish Bengali food, rice, and curry. Shambhu Da’s canteen is heavily crowded during lunchtime and dinner. Appropriate food quantity, for two people it can cost nearly 300 Rs
