We Indians take our chai very seriously. We don’t accept any change in our good ol’ cuppa, but when we get something really great, we don’t leave it too.
Thank 29-year-old Pune-based Amol Dilip Rajdeo who has brought an innovation to our good ol’ cuppa.
Amol has come up with the idea of selling tandoor tea. He has a small shop with the name Chai La The tandoor Tea in Pune, which makes tea and other beverages with the help of a tandoor.
Not just a tea shop, Amol also runs a Maharashtrian restaurant in the city. Explaining tandoor chai, he said: “It is a unique tea-making process. Here we first roast kulhads in a pre-heated tandoor and pour semi-cooked tea into the extremely hot kulhads. We let it bubble over and once done, the chai gets a smoky flavour.”
Started last month, Chai La The Tandoor Tea, currently, sells around 20 varieties of beverages all brewed in tandoor. The list includes signature tandoor chai, tandoor coffee, black coffee, masala tea, lemon tea, black tea, adrak tea, black tea and turmeric milk.
