Ever heard of sand coffee? Well if you want to try it out, head to Jordan’s Charcoal Shawarma and Falafel in Hyderabad. One of the most happening hangout spots in the city, this place makes food and beverages using traditional Turkish method. Run by 19-year-old Musharraf Niazi who is also pursuing B com in Computer Science, the cafe is inspired by the spices of Jordan.
They make shawarmas on charcoal and coffee on sand, which is a specialty of the place. The method comes from Turkey and the ingredients used in Turkish sand coffee are same as a regular coffee. They use water, milk, finely-ground coffee beans and sugar. But the cooking technique is slightly different. They place the pot in the sand and as water starts heating, coffee and sugar are added and stirred. Once the mixture reaches boiling point, it is done.
They have limited menu which includes charcoal shawarma roll, charcoal shawarma plate, falafel with Indian dressing, hummus and coffee.
