Quick question. What makes your eyes and mouth water at the same time?
Before your dirty mind throws up random sex positions, let us give you the answer.
Chillies!
And when it comes to chillies, nothing beats bhut jolokia.
Also known as Raja Mirchi, ghost chili, umorok, and ghost pepper, is very popular in North East India and the people there just love these spicy hot chillies. When we say it is the hottest chilli, we actually mean it. Check out here:
How do we measure the hotness of chilli?
Scoville scale is used to measure the hotness of chili peppers. And when bhut jalokia was measured on it, it came up to over 1,041,427 SHUs.
You want more proof…?
Not only this, Guinness World Records certified that the ghost pepper was the world’s hottest chili pepper in 2007. Even Amedonou Kankue claimed the Guinness World Record in 2016 for eating the most bhut jolokia in 2 minutes.
This chilli is not only used as a spice in curries, pickles and chutneys, but it is also used to develop fiery hand grenades and tear gas by the Indian Defense wing. Also, farmers use the chilli to ward off animals.
What else?
Bhut jolokia is also used to cure stomach ailments and beat the summer heat. The medical explanation behind it is that when you eat spicy food, blood circulation rises and you start sweating. You soon cool off once when the moisture evaporates.
