Fernando Gómez-Pinilla, UCLA professor of neurosurgery and physiological science once described the food as a pharmaceutical compound that affects the brain. Fernando made the statement after studying the effects of food on the brain for years.
As a member of UCLA’s Brain Research Institute and Brain Injury Research Center, Fernando also claimed that there are foods which can help you fight depression, mood disorders, and schizophrenia.
They boost mental strength and also prevent you from Alzheimer. In this post, we will talk about five such foods. Consuming all these will keep your brain cognitively younger.
Salmon: Salmon fish contains omega-3 fats like EPA and DHA. Research has claimed that high DHA levels prevent you from depression and other omega-3 fats fight inflammation throughout the brain.
Blueberries: Filled with antioxidants, blueberries can prevent many neurological problems. They further contain high levels of anthocyanin which boost brain strength.
Walnuts: Research has proved that consumption of walnuts by rats reversed brain aging in them. Based on the research, many claims have been made regarding walnut being very effective in boosting brain’s strength. Moreover, the presence of plant-based omega-3 tdfgfats, natural phytosterols, and antioxidants also made us believe the claims.

If you haven’t yet made all these foods a part of your diet, do it as soon as possible. Apart from consuming these foods, the factors which can affect your brain health include your general eating habits too. According to 2013 International Conference on Nutrition and the Brain, eating whole foods and limiting saturated and trans fats also affect your brain health at large.
The guidelines by the conference also emphasised on physical fitness, like walking briskly for at least 40 minutes every other day.
