It is the time of the year when women keep fast for their husband. They eat nothing for the entire day and take a bite only after seeing the moon. Yes, it is the festival of Karva Chauth, which falls on the fourth day of Hindu lunisolar calendar in the month of Kartik. It is believed that women do the fast for the safety and longevity of their husbands.

On the day of Karwa Chauth, women fast from sunrise to moonrise for their husbands or desired husbands. The festival is celebrated in few parts of India — Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pardesh, and parts of Uttar Pradesh. While women have to fast for entire day, men feed them the first bite of food. This year the most auspicious time to start the Karva Chauth puja is 5:43 – 5:46am to 6:50pm. Also, in the moon is expected to rise at 8.47 pm in Delhi, while in Uttar Pradesh it will rise at around 8.35 pm.
