How many times do we feel proud of our body? How many times are we comfortable in flaunting our own body? The answer lies in the photos shared by 38-years-old plus size blogger Sarah Sapora who avoided wearing a bikini for almost 25 years. However, she decided to put an end to it and recently wore it for a body-positive photoshoot. The shoot was conducted in collaboration with Lane Brant who convinced Sarah to wear a bikini and she happily agreed.
In her blog, she talked about how she abstained from wearing a bikini all these years. She stated that when she was 13 years old, she borrowed a bikini from a counselor and wore it for a day. Somebody clicked a picture and that is the only memory she has. She went on to say that since then it took her 25 years to feel free in her body again.
She wrote a long heart touching post on her Instagram account which read, “Wearing this @lanebryant bikini took me far out of my comfort zone. But that’s the thing about feeling free. Once you REALLY start to live that — once you feel it — your comfort can’t be contained into any single zone. It’s in the air. It’s in the way you breathe. There is less fear and more room to dance in the truth of who, and what, we are. I feel this all the time. Freedom becomes your baseline. And you stop worrying about stuff like your “visible belly line” or stretch marks or stuff that jiggles because your sense of self is born in your beating heart. And your breath. And as long as you have both of those you can always come back to the single most important tool for happiness you have in your life. Love.”
