In a country like Pakistan which is known for its conservative approach towards women, it will be surprising for you to know that it does host beauty pageants. Miss Pakistan World is a beauty pageant which involves participation from Pakistani women residing in their native state and across the world. Here are few facts you need to know about the beauty contest.
- The first edition of Miss Pakistan World was held in Canada in 2002, and was christened as Miss Canada Pakistan. It was held in the North American country as the organisers deemed it unsafe to hold it in their own country due to security concerns. Zehra Sheerazi was the first winner when she was crowned in Ottawa.
- Miss Pakistan World is being organised by Sonia Ahmed, a Pakistani-Canadian businesswoman who aims to work towards providing a platform for equal rights to both Pakistani men and women across the world.

Although Zehra Sheerazi won the maiden crown, it was Naomi Zaman who hoisted the Pakistani flag high by participating in the Miss Earth 2006.

- The Miss Pakistan World held in Toronto in 2010 was marred in controversy following protests in wake of the devastating flash floods which hit Punjab and Sindh province that year. The event witnessed only 200 guests, thereby evoking criticism from former winners who had suggested that the pageant be postponed due to the natural calamity.
- However, the pageant has given extremely beautiful women who are making their country proud at the global stage.

Sanober Hussein was crowned Miss Pakistan World in 2011. She also participated in Miss Earth beauty pageant.
