Lo and behold, it’s that time of the year again when round-up lists spring to life and give us reason to cheer. This was the year of cray-cray and some of the beauty trends that emerged out of the vlogging woods had us going “WUT WUT”! Some of them took jugaad to a whole another level and some others should have never seen the light of the day. But here we are now with 10 of the weirdest beauty trends that made us go krazy kiya re in 2018.
Feather brows
These don’t look as cute and dreamy as they sound. We are all for Kardashian-style middle-parted hair realness, but doing that to our brows and sticking it all in place with sticky styling products just seems like a waste of time. But, then again, this wasn’t even the weirdest eyebrow trend of 2018.

Glitter boobs and butts
Move over the glitter beard and and glitter on your hair-parting trends. This was the year when glitter on boobs and butts became a thing among millennial influencers who live for the aesthetics of it all.

Glitter masks
If putting glitter just for the show wasn’t enough, 2018 went a step ahead and gave us actual skincare products loaded with glittery goodness. They do nothing for your skin, but hey, at least they look pretty!

Water bottle curls
The Dyson Airwrap styler, which is worth than some of our monthly rents times three, is the invention behind this beauty hack going viral. This particular styler uses air to curl hair instead of heat, which is great news for our lustrous manes, but the price is not at all pocket friendly. That’s why our trusted beauty vloggers got down to finding a more jugaadu hack for it instead and voila we can all now cut holes in our discarded plastic water bottles to get curls to die for!

Fishtail brows
Crazy brow hacks won the year, and fishtail brows are just one of the many that emerged on our viral social media feeds. You just dab some concealer to hide a part of your eyebrow and then draw on a “tail” going upwards to get the effect. One can always go extraa if you always wanted to channel your inner bull or ram. But…we must let you know, this is still not the craziest brow hack.
Halo brows
This one is a strong contender for being the craziest brow hack of 2018. Inspired by the fishtail brow trend, beauty vlogger Hannah Lyne decided to just go for it one fine day and create this “look”. You just join your brows and make it look like a halo on your forehead when the angels refuse to give you your actual neon halo that is usually sported on top of the head.

Nose hair extensions
We aren’t kidding. This trend actually went viral after Instagrammer GretChen Chen decided to put her fake eyelashes on her nostrils just for lulz, I’m guessing. Soon people went ahead and started attaching their extensions inside their nostrils so that it appeared as if their nostrils weren’t meant for breathing but were fertile grounds for lush locks everyone wishes they had on their heads.

Corkscrew nails
One of the absolutely and utterly curious beauty trends that happened this year, were corkscrew nails. They look scary and dangerous and can’t even uncork your cheap wine bottles when you need it. Plus, you can poke yourself in the eye if you are a big enough klutz like most of us are. So pointless, but pretty I guess!

Teeth nail art
Don’t have a set of pearly whites in your mouth and don’t know how to stop the yellowing? Fret not because a Russian nail salon called Nail Sunny will give them to you… on your nails! You can have creepily accurate white teeth on your hands now. Do I hear shouts of, “no thanks”? Yeah, well.

Asian transformation makeup tutorials
This is the trend that needs to die but is also so oddly satisfying to watch! This trend originated in South East Asian countries and went crazy viral this year with women transforming their looks entirely using makeup and prosthetics. From slimmer jawlines to bigger eyes – the transformations were unrealistic to say the least. Many vloggers even did explainer videos to show regular folks how the sorcery was happening in these videos.
