7 reasons why Ramchandra Guha resigned from BCCI’s top post and MS Dhoni is one of those!

Ramchandra Guha wrote a detailed letter which was addressed to CoA chairman Vinod Rai where he briefly described the reasons why he took this giant step immediately

A day after stepping down from the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA), historian and columnist Ramchandra Guha wrote a detailed letter which was addressed to CoA chairman Vinod Rai. In the letter, he briefly described the reasons why he took this giant step immediately. He also mentioned that he has expressed the key reasons of divergence for the sake of transparency. He has pointed out the unnecessary special treatment given to the star players by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and also the CoA.

In his letter, Guha made a total of 7 points and due to those seven reasons, he has to leave the post.

  1. The CoA has failed to address the conflict of interest issue. The negligence of National Coaches over the National team at the cost of Indian Premier League (IPL). Delhi Daredevils coach Rahul Dravid is also the coach of the India A and India Junior team.
  2. Contract of Sunil Gavaskar as the head of player management company.
  3. Grade A contract to MS Dhoni despite he is not making it to the Test Team.
  4. CoA’s negligence of domestic cricketers and a huge difference in their match fee as compared to international players.
  5. Why CoA is silent when disqualified officials attend BCCI meets?
  6. An unprofessional way to handle the India Coach issue. Anil Kumble’s tenure is going to end despite his excellent past record.
  7. Absence of male cricketers in CoA and proposal favouring inclusion of Javagal Srinath in the committee.

Historian Ramchandra Guha was one of the four members who was appointed in BCCI’s panel of administrators on January 30 by the Supreme Court following the sacking of BCCI President Anurag Thakur and secretary Ajay Shirke. The other members who were appointed were former CAG Vinod Rai, Managing Director & CEO of IDFC Ltd Vikram Limaye, and former Women Test cricketer Diana Edulji.
