Azaan row: Sonu Nigam pulled up a Congress leader for her poor English! We suggest he takes a break from Twitter

Congress leader slammed Sonu Nigam for his controversial tweet on Azaan. Here's how the playback singer reacted

Sonu Nigam sparked controversy through his early morning tweet on Azaan. Most of the people slammed him for the communal remark. In spite of being subjected to incessant trolling on social media, the playback singer has refused to retract his statement.

Apparently dozing off after posting the tweet, Nigam was back in business as he replied to most of the tweets disapproving his views on Azaan. Indrani Mishra, a Youth Congress leader irked the National Award winning singer when she questioned him about the views he expressed on social media. When asked whether he was yearning for a Rajya Sabha seat, Nigam lost his cool and said,”Na beta na.. Vo sapne tum hi dekho.. And English nahi aati to Hindi par hi raho.”

Mishra, who unsuccessfully contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Asansol in West Bengal, vented her ire at Nigam for the controversial tweet, but the latter was more interested in the grammatical flaws in her comment. Check out these two tweets.Sonu Nigam tweets, Twitter photo for InUth

As you can see in the tweets, Nigam is unfazed by the entire controversy surrounding his tweet. He simply tried to deviate from the entire debate by finding fault in her tweet. All the traits of a grammar Nazi. But what’s important here is the message which she was conveying to the singer.

On the other hand, the film industry is divided over the entire issue. While Pooja Bhatt, music director Wajid Khan and others criticised the singer, filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri and actor Richa Chadha came out in his support.
