'Blockbuster move,' Twitter hails PM Narendra Modi as govt bans 'lal batti' cars for VVIPs

Narendra Modi has banned the use of red beacon light that will be implemented from May 1. Here's how Twitter responded to the development

In a welcome move, Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led central government announced on April 19 that they were putting end to the red beacon cars used by the VVIPs for the official purpose. The order shall be implemented from May 1. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari made the announcement adding that only emergency services will have red beacon on their vehicle.

“Only emergency services will have red beacon, I have also removed it from my car today,” Nitin Gadkari said. However, Prime Minister, President are reportedly exempt from the ban. Meanwhile, Twitterati has hailed this move and lauded PM Modi’s attempt to end the VVIP culture. A number of people had raised a number of questions on the VVIPs using red beacon as the practice massive traffic jams and delayed ambulances on several occasions.
