Dangal has emerged as a dhaakad blockbuster on Box Office, minting Rs 295. 14 crore. The Aamir Khan film is all set to surpass Sultan’s lifetime collection today. The film will then emerge as the highest grossing Hindi film of 2016. Dangal is now aiming to go past Aamir’s previous on-screen outing — PK which stands at Rs 340. 6 crore.
Not just the domestic market, Dangal is ruling overseas as well. It has already become highest grossing Indian film in Australia by raking in A$ 2. 22 million. The record belonged to Aamir’s PK which had minted A$ 2. 11 million in its lifetime run there.
Dangal, which is beyond just a sports drama, has crossed the landmark of Rs 150 crore overseas with its Monday collection being $22. 63 million, making the overseas total to Rs 150. 81 crore. This cements the fact how a good content with a universal appeal can rule the Box Office at international markets as well. The phenomenal run of the Nitesh Tiwari directorial seems unstoppable as the film has still got an entire free week at the ticket window till Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur’s OK Janu hits the screens on 13 January. Post which Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil and Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees will conquer the big screens on 23 January.
