The latest Bollywood release Dangal has woven its charm on critics and viewers alike. Since its release on 23 December, this Aamir Khan starrer is running in packed houses and minted Rs 155.53 crore in the domestic market.
Dangal has been touted as the movie of this year by many. The tale of Mahavir Singh Phogat and his battle with societal norms to make his daughters Geeta and Babita world class wrestlers struck the right chords with everyone. Apart from being a sports biopic, the movie also imparted important lessons about women empowerment.
It was this content rich factor that enabled Dangal to collect an overwhelming amount of money in a few days.
Despite becoming one of the most successful movies of 2016, there were few records that Dangal failed to break. Few of these unbreakable records belong to Aamir’s peer Khans- Shah Rukh and Salman and others to Mr Perfectionist himself.
Here are 10 records that Dangal failed to break:
Salman vs Aamir:
In terms of occupancy, Salman Khan’s Sultan witnessed higher occupancy than Aamir’s Dangal. The Eid release opened to 80-90% occupancy and the Christmas release to 60-70%.
