DMK suspended actor and party man Radha Ravi for sexist remarks against actor Nayanthara
Ravi made explicit remarks during the trailer launch of Nayanthara’s latest film.
“Nayanthara is someone who acts as Sita here and goes there to act as a ghost too.Anyone can do such roles these day. We can cast someone who is devotional or even someone who is inviting” Ravi said.
After his speech went viral on social media several actors and political leaders
came out and condemned it
Calling it ‘unacceptable’ DMK President MK Stalin announced 66-year old’s suspension from the party
Actors Taapsee Pannu, Rana Daggupati and singer Chinmayi Sripaada also called out the actor for his remarks.
This is disgusting beyond words. Who asked him about casting pre requisites and is he the president of character certificate association? This comes for one of the strongest actresses of the industry,I can only wonder what he might have to say about others https://t.co/tFjTZ04gRB

Just heard some filthy comments from Mr.#RadhaRavi to press about a very fine actor. Your comments sir reflect the “filth in your character” and the “fineness in her many performances” as actor.
Such a shame to the community you are!! #RadhaRavi

Just a reminder.
Mr Radha Ravi has been speaking like this for years. People were afraid of questioning him because of his verbal diarrhoea. So People cheer & clap.
Change takes a while to come. Even then one has to keep repeating what’s wrong.
Everyday. Again and again.— Chinmayi Sripaada (@Chinmayi) March 26, 2019
Nayanthara also dubbed as the Lady Superstar later issued an official statement urging South Indian Artistes’ Association to set up internal complaints committee as per SC dictum. She further added that she would continue to do multifaceted roles of “Sita, ghost, Goddess, friend, wife, lover, so on and so forth” and continue to entertain her fans.
