Helmed by Ghajini-director AR Murugadoss, the film is slated to release on Pongal next year. Darbar will be the 68-year old actor’s 167th film in his four-decades-long career.
Rajini made his debut in 1975 with K Balachander’s ‘Apoorva Raagangal’ (Tamil). After playing several negative roles in the beginning, Rajni established himself as an action hero with Billa (the remake Bollywood’s hit film Don) and Muratu Kalai in 1980. He made his entry in Bollywood in 1983 with Andha Kanoon, starring opposite Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini. Over the years, thanks to several blockbusters in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi and Bengali, Thalaivar has created a fan base like no other.
