Singapore just lost its most loved resident. Inuka, the world’s only tropical polar bear has died
at the age of 27 after a five-year battle with age-related ailments. Born and brought up in a climate-controlled enclosure in Singapore Zoo, Inuka lived his entire life outside his natural habitat and outlived the average life expectancy of those in the wild. However, activists and conservationists have always raised voices against keeping polar bears in tropical regions like Singapore. In 2006, the zoo decided to not have any more polar bears
Nevertheless, Inuka still remains one of the most popular icons of the city
Rest in peace!
