The shooting of Malayalam actor Mohanlal’s Odiyan is yet-to-be-started, but the film has already started to create headlines across the social media. The film, which marks the directorial debut of ad filmmaker VA Shrikumar stars Manju Warrier in the female lead. In addition to this, VA Shrikumar has also signed his next film, Mahabharatham with the Malayalam superstar. Produced by Mohanlal’s friend Antony Perumbavoor of Oppam fame, Odiyan also marks the 24th collaboration of actor-producer duo.
InUth had previously reported that Odiyan will start rolling in May. And now the makers have revealed an important update on the film. “The story of Odiyan revolves around the concept of magical realism. The film will be a period movie which is set in a time span from 1950’s to 1990’s and depicts the story of four main characters. Mohanlal, Manju Warrier, and Prakash Raj have been finalized for the three primary characters of the film, while the fourth main character of the movie is yet-to-be-decided. Odiyan will be one of the finest fantasy thrillers ever made in the history of Indian Cinema. We have already roped in Peter Hein to direct the actions sequences for the film”, revealed the makers.
Odiyan is also touted as one of the most expensive Malayalam films to be made till date. The film also marks the collaboration of Mohanlal and Prakash Raj after The Prince, Iruvar, Oru Yathramozhi and Keerthi Chakra.
