Nawazuddin Siddiqui is playing the role of famed writer Saadat Hasan Manto in Nandita Das’ directorial Manto. The first look was unveiled at the ongoing Cannes Film Festival and it will take your breath away. The release of the movie’s poster at the celebrated film festival is laud worthy and it has brought back the attention to what the festival is about.
Since Cannes Film Festival started all everyone has been concerned about the fashion statement on the red carpet. Speaking of Bollywood, all eyes are set on the sartorial choices of Sonam Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Deepika Padukone. What these actresses have been wearing to walk the red carpet has got everyone talking. Their looks are being dissected, everything from their makeup to accessories is being talked about in great detail.
But the release of Manto first look at the festival proves that the festival is much more than the glamour and glitz. This is the fourth time that Nawazuddin has attended the Cannes Film Festival. The actor made his debut in the festival with Gangs of Wasseypur. Speaking about his association with the festival, Nawazuddin said he has come a long way. He revealed that when he debuted he had only one suit stitched by a local tailor. But things have definitely changed for Nawazuddin.

A few weeks ago veteran actress Shabana Azmi had shared an image of her attending the Cannes with co-star Smita Patil and director Shyam Benegal. Shabana sharing the image took us to simpler times when Cannes was more about movies and less about a fashionable event on the calendar. She revealed that Shyam Benegal made her and Smita walk in sarees to catch the attention of onlookers. Cannes has definitely changed, for better or for the worse is for cine lovers to decide.
