We all have grown up planting and watering plants in our garden. From watering those rose bushes to growing lettuce in the kitchen garden, we all have enjoyed gardening during our childhood days. But what if you were asked to grow and water plants in the space?
Yes, you heard me. What would you do if you were asked to grow a garden on board the International Space Station (ISS)? Well, you have some time to figure that out.
Apparently, American space agency NASA is giving you a chance to grow a garden in zero gravity on board the ISS, somewhat like the movie The Martian! ‘Space Science Investigations: Plant Growth’ is a smartphone app by NASA that lets players travel on board the ISS and grow plants that can power a bowl of salad for the astronauts.
Don’t freak out as you’ll be given some time to get used to living in the space. As the newest member of the crew, your task is to get familiar with the place and help out with the plant growth experiment. Once you get all comfortable and cosy, you are moved to zero gravity conditions. Once zero gravity conditions stop scaring you, you’ll have to find astronaut Naomi helps and assist her in the research: how micro-gravity affects plant growth in space. The task is to study the impact of various factors like light and water in zero gravity and grow a bowl of salad for the crew, which BTW includes you.

The app takes 195MB space on your smartphone and is available for download on both Android and iOS.
So are you ready to step up to the challenge and colonise space?!
