Unprovoked heavy firing was reported yet again in Akhnoor’s Pallanwala sector at 1:35 PM on Tuesday, adding to the ongoing tension between India and Pakistan along the Line of Control.
No injuries have been reported but several shells landed near civilian areas in Nowshera.
The Pakistan Army made similar allegations, saying Indian troops “resorted to unprovoked firing” at 4 am.
“Pakistani troops befittingly responded to the unprovoked Indian firing in Bhimber sector,” an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) statement said.
Confirming the ceasefire violations, Defense PRO Manish Mehta said the Indian Army is replying with appropriate weapon system.
“They are using small arms automatics and mortars. There are no reports of causality as of now and we are responding appropriately with a befitting reply to the Pakistani unprovoked ceasefire violation,” he added.
He further said that Indian army is replying with appropriate weapon system.
Pakistan had violated ceasefire in Shahpur on Monday along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir. Heavy mortar shelling and firing was reported from the Pakistani side in Poonch.
