Remember the ice bucket challenge which had taken over social media to spread awareness and raise funds for ASL? Internet challenges aren’t a new fad, but depending on the age group it is popular in, can either be massively stupid or incredibly helpful. The latest one to join the bandwagon is the #Trashtag challenge.
The challenge requires you to clean the litter around an area and then post before and after picture with the hashtag, #trashtag. Sounds simple? Then join them. People from India, Mexico, California and many other countries across the globe are participating in the #trashtag challenge, posting the challenge results on Instagram, Reddit, and Twitter.

According to reports, this challenge was initially introduced in 2015 by outdoor gear company in Seattle named UCO Gear. The challenge could not much garner much attention initially.
However it caught the attention of many after a Facebook user, Byron Román, posted a before-and-after picture on March 5 saying, “Here is a new #challenge for all you bored teens. Take a photo of an area that needs some cleaning or maintenance, then take a photo after you have done something about it, and post it.”
As they say, the challenge has since then become viral. Up for it?
