PMC Election Results 2017: BJP wins 77 seats, NCP wins 44, Congress gets 16

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) civic polls took place on February 21 with 1,090 candidates battling out for 162 seats. PMC is one of the oldest Municipality Corporations in the country which was formed in 1950. and holds a total number 41 wards. the fight is considered to be strong between Bharatiya Janata Party, NCP and Shiv Sena. Parties like Congress and NCP have allied to fight for over 100 seats while over 62 seats, candidates from both the parties are contesting against each other.

It is going to be interesting to witness whether NCP will continue its winning streak or will BJP sweep off the elections. As the resident went to polls on February 21, Pune recorded a voter turnout of 55.5%. Which is marginally higher than that was recorded 2012 civic polls.

Apart from BJP and NCP, Asaduddin Owaisi’s All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) party also contested Pune Civic polls for making inroads in Pune.

Besides Pune, the municipal corporations which went to the polls were Mumbai, Thane, Ulhasnagar, Nashik, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Solapur, Akola, Amravati and Nagpur. The Counting will start at 10 am

5:08 PM: Huge win for BJP as the party sweeps off 77 seats. NCP wins 44 and Congress gets 16. Shiv Sena fails to make a big impact and manages to get only 10 seats out of 162 as of now.

4: 44 PM: BJP wins 41 seats, NCP wins 18, Congress gets 8. Shiv Sena and MNS managed to get 1 each.

4: 32 PM: While BJP is winning in most of the wards, NCP’s Chandraseth Aatmaram is winning in Division 11 with 183224 votes followed by BJP’s Dilip Mahadev with 11767 votes.

3: 16 PM: BJP has won 16 seats, while NCP has won only 1 as yet.

3: 11 PM: BJP’s Guruuji Bapurao Gangaram is leading in Division 3 with 13105 seats followed by Ramesh Dattareya from NCP with 8705 votes. 709 NOTA votes cast.

2: 52 PM: BJP wins 14 seats. NCP trying hard to catch up.

2: 49 PM: BJP leading in 74 seats followed by NCP on 35.

1: 08 PM: BJP’s Shraddha Ashok continues to lead with 16639 in Division 10 followed by Marne Jayshree Gajanan (MNS) with 6955 votes. 1217 people have cast NOTA votes in division 10.

1:04 PM: BJP’s Sonali Santosh leading in Division 7 with 6657 votes followed by Congress’s Rupali Shripad with 4311 votes.

12:47 PM: If reports are to be believed BJP likely to emerge as a winner. BJP leading in 45 seats, followed by NCP on 17 seats and Shiv Sena on 7 seats.
