India’s star sprinter Hima Das has been away from home for months while preparing for U20 World Championships and Asian Games 2018. On Friday, the Asian Games triple medallist finally returned to Guwahati to pay a visit to her family.
However, the officials at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (LGBI) decided to welcome the champion in a unique style. The airport officials rolled out a customised carpet for Das which looked exactly like a racetrack.
The photos of the racetrack carpet have gone viral on the internet. Even the 18-year-old athlete took notice and retweeted the photo on her timeline.
Here are a couple of tweets showing the race track carpet for Hima:

In a recent conversation with Indian Express, Hima talked about the nature of conversations she has with her parents. She got a little candid while talking about the telephonic conversations with them every time she won a medal.
