Barca fight back to oust Gladbach 2-1

Neymar and Suarez were rarely allowed more than a split-second on the ball by the Gladbach defenders

Barcelona proved that they can cope and win in Europe against any opponent even without their talismanic forward Lionel Messi. Barca posted a 2-1 comeback victory at Borrusia-Park against Borussia Moenchengladbach in the Champions League yesterday.

Eden Hazard’s brother Thorgan Hazard gave Gladbach a deserving lead in the first-half. But Arda Turan and Gerard Pique scored in the second-half which sealed Barcelona’s second Group-C victory at Borussia-Park. Barca had previously defeated Celtic 7-0 at the iconic Camp Nou in the Champions League.

Lionel Messi has been sidelined for three weeks due to a groin injury, and Barca coach Luis Enrique opted to give Spanish striker Paco Alcacer a start alongside Neymar and Luis Suarez. Both, Neymar and Suarez were rarely allowed more than a split-second on the ball by the Gladbach defenders. Gladbach manager Andre Schubert had openly stated in the press conference that the hosts clearly refused to be overwhelmed by their illustrious opponents, and that they did.

Barcelona will face Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in their next Champions League encounter.
